There is big news for Harley-Davidson fans. America’s well-known motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson is now preparing to launch an affordable and entry-level motorcycle ‘Sprint’ in the market. Company CEO Jochen Zeitz has confirmed this in a recent conversation with the media. He told that work on the ‘Sprint’ bike is going on since 2021 and now it has almost reached its final stage.
Will be launched in 2026, may be first showcased at EICMA show
Although the company has not yet announced its official launch date, it is expected that it can be showcased for the first time at the prestigious EICMA motorcycle show to be held in Milan city of Italy in November this year. After this, it will be launched in the global market in 2026.
The price will be less than 6,000 dollars, in India
Jochen Zeitz told the investors meeting that this bike is being designed keeping in mind the “legacy and emotion” of the company. ‘Sprint’ will be as powerful as other Harley-Davidson models, but the features will be limited so that its price can be reduced. He also said that the company is planning to bring it at a price of less than US$6,000, which comes to around Rs 5.23 lakh in Indian Rupees.
Second attempt after Street 750
This is not the first time that Harley-Davidson has tried to enter the entry-level segment. Earlier, the company had launched ‘Street 750’ bike in India in 2014. However, that bike was not very successful in terms of sales. Despite this, the company is once again exploring possibilities in this segment, especially keeping in mind the young customers.
There is still suspense regarding the features and design
No official information has been given by the company regarding the specifications and features of ‘Sprint’ yet. Although it is believed that this bike will be designed for young riders and some features will be taken from the company’s high-end bikes, but they will be kept in limited form so that its price remains balanced.
Preparation for another new bike also
Apart from ‘Sprint’, there is also news that the company is planning to launch another new bike, although its name or details have not been revealed yet. This strategy indicates that Harley-Davidson no longer wants to be limited to just the premium segment, but also wants to establish its presence in the mass market.
Trying to attract new customers
This time the company’s focus is on attracting new and young customers. Through entry-level products like ‘Sprint’, Harley-Davidson also wants to enter those markets where its presence has been less till now. This will not only help the company in increasing its customer base but will also improve profits.
Overall, the Harley-Davidson Sprint could be a golden opportunity for those customers who always wanted a Harley riding experience but were kept away due to the price. If this bike proves to be affordable, powerful and stylish as promised, it could prove to be a game changer for the brand.
