Tata sales of Tata Motors
In January 2025, Tata Motors sold a total of 5,037 electric cars, making it the most EV selling company in the country. However, Tata’s cell has declined by 13% compared to January 2024 last year. Tata Motors’ market share was 68% last year, which declined to 45% this year. Despite this, it still remains the largest EV company in the country.

JSW MG Motor India has finished second in the sale of electric cars in the country. In January 2025, the company sold 4,225 electric cars, while in January 2024 the figure was only 1,203 units. In this way, the MG motor saw a tremendous growth of 251%.
MG’s electric cars include Windsor EV, ZS EV and COMET EV. Especially after the launch of Windsor EV, there has been a big jump in the company’s sales. MG’s cars are especially known for style and technology, due to which their demand is increasing among customers.
Mahindra’s sales decline
Mahindra & Mahindra is third in this list. The company sold 686 units of its electric car XUV400 in January 2025. However, Mahindra’s sales have declined by 13% compared to last year.
Currently, Mahindra has only one electric car (XUV400) market, but in the coming time the company is preparing to launch new electric cars like BE 6 and XEV 9E. This is expected to increase Mahindra’s sales.
Hyundai’s slow sale of electric cars
Hyundai Motor India, which performs well in the segment of petrol and diesel cars, stood fourth in the sale of electric cars. In January 2025, Hyundai sold a total of 321 electric cars, making its market share 3%.
However, Hyundai has benefited from the launch of Creta Electric in Auto Expo 2025. This new electric SUV can be quite popular among Indian customers. The company hopes that its EV cell will improve in the coming months.
